Local Organizing Committee
The AT-Info-Map Leadership Team, which consists of all but one major actors in the project – the Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD); the African Network for Evidence–to–Action in Disability (AfriNEAD), and the University of Washington – is providing strategic oversight, multi-stakeholder perspectives and joint direction to the Southern Africa Assistive Technology Expo (SAATE). To ensure smooth running of the event activities, the AT-Info-Map Leadership Team assembled a Local Organizing Committee in Namibia to handle day-to-day logistical tasks to make the process and event inclusive, successful and efficient.
Some of the key tasks and responsibilities the Local Organizing Committee shall undertake from time to time include:
- Act as conduits to facilitate communication between and with their constituencies in Namibia;
- Represent itself in meetings and activities related to the organization of the event such as with donors, Government agencies and other statutory bodies, etc., of the host country;
- Provide regular oversight of consultation processes with other stakeholders within Namibia to ensure effectiveness and accountability;
- Oversee the support team and Task Forces in their handling of the day-to-day tasks associated with the process and event; and
- Ensure coordination of work streams that relate to the AT Expo processes.
